Footprints in the Sand

Dear Faith Family,

Isn’t it fun to walk on the beach?  I love to walk on the sand.  After a while, isn’t it fun to look back and see the trail of footprints in the sand?  I enjoy seeing my kids do the same.  But such proof of one’s presence isn’t always so poignantly apparent.  Consider for a moment Psalm 77:19.

“Your path led through the sea, your way through the mighty waters, though your footprints were not seen.”

God used Asaph to remind God’s people to depend on God’s presence as they faced challenge after challenge.  As the Lord held back the water of the Red Sea, introducing a different and unexpected path for God’s people, God was with them.

As we tread through the sands of time, God is with us.  What a loving and faithful God we have who sometimes drives us hard so that we come to him for strength.  As we make each choice and decision of each day and night, we have God’s assurance that he is with each one of us and will be with each of us.  He will not leave or abandon you.  God will lead you through and past any current difficulty you are facing, though his footprints will not be seen.  My sincere prayer is that the God who made the sea, then drown your sin in the depths of it will also comfort you with his presence.  God strengthen the resolve in each one of us, that each of us can confidently confess, “I can do everything through him who gives me strength.”

Prayer idea:  Lord God Almighty, be with each of us, strengthening us for what lies ahead.  Give us your wisdom and guidance.  Most of all, assure us of your presence.  Stay with each of us, Lord, as you have promised.  Deepen our trust in you.  Though your footprints will not be seen, help us by assuring us of your presence.  In all things, we commit ourselves to your loving care.  Amen.

Blessings on your week!  God be with you until our paths cross again!
